The Album
Rip Gerber set out to make a fully human record: no loops, no samples, no AI. Noah directed the recording from the first session and built orchestral arrangements for four of the ten songs.
The orchestra was recorded live with the band on the Skywalker scoring stage, with no click track. Sessions also ran at Sausalito’s 2200 Studios, the former Record Plant.

Bio
Noah Luna
“The very model of a modern, cool composer,” as SF Classical Voice put it, Noah Luna composes concert music, writes arrangements and orchestrations for pop, rock and hip-hop artists, and produces recordings and live concerts. He has conducted soundtracks for live-action and animated films, and his orchestrations for popular artists have been performed worldwide.
He grew up in Mountain View, California, working in his father’s taquerias and neighborhood grocery stores. Seeing Bonnie Raitt at Shoreline Amphitheatre lit the spark. At 13 he picked up the guitar to play rock versions of video game music, and he went on to form the high school band Limstrike.
Rock bands and garage 4-track recordings led to formal study at De Anza College, paid for by a job at a local music store and California tours with singer-songwriter Iari Melchor. Knowing his classical peers had years of training on him, he threw himself into theory, composition and orchestration. He earned his bachelor’s at CSU Hayward (now CSU East Bay) under Frank LaRocca and Rafael Hernandez, joining the John Lennon Tour Bus project with Bob Weir along the way, and his master’s at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under Conrad Susa.
That double background became his strength. He has reduced Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring for 14 players, orchestrated PBS specials alongside Billy Joel’s music director, and arranged, orchestrated and conducted for pop, rock, film and orchestral projects across the country. In 2026 he produced Rip Gerber’s debut album, Old Piano, at Skywalker Sound.
